Mathew Dunwald is the Head of Crisis and Behavior Management at Clare Woods Academy, an alternative and therapeutic day school for children and young adults with special needs.
Mathew has been in this position over the past six years and takes a significant amount of pride in his work. As the Head of Crisis and Behavior Management, Mathew’s responsibility involves de-escalating escalating behaviors by implementing the verbal and physical methods of CPI.
In addition to being the first responder and leading the “Crisis Response Team” for escalating behaviors that happen during the school day, Mathew is also a certified trainer for CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention). He is responsible for training all staff members in CPI, and making sure that the safety standards and core values of the organization are upheld in order to help establish a calm and safe environment for both the students and staff.
Mathew is pursuing his education to become a Clinical Psychologist, and hopes to continue making a positive difference in the lives of many others who have difficulties managing their behaviors.
